“Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
WHAT DO I DO?
- Get a piece of paper, and at the top of the sheet write “I want to quit porn, because” (You can do this exercise on a word processing software too, but it is more effective if you do it on a piece of paper).
- Write down everything that comes to mind.
- You might write that you want to quit porn because you want to feel more in control of your personal, social and professional life, that you want to be healthy mentally, emotionally and physically, that you want to bring your life back on track, or that you want to feel more confident in social interactions, etc.
- Once you have written everything that came to your mind, keep this sheet of paper handy. And, whenever you feel unstable about quitting porn, read this sheet again and you will be back on track.
- It is suggestible that you read this sheet of paper every day to keep you on the right track.
WHY DO I DO IT?
Have you ever observed what happens when you relapse? You become very very determined to quit porn and get your life back on track. In phase one, that is, after you relapse you might think of hundreds of reasons not to watch porn. You will be full of motivation to quit porn forever. But once you are triggered by porn cravings in phase three or the Retreat, you forget every reason not to watch porn and blindly give in yourself to the cravings.
But that’s not the case when you write down the reasons for quitting on a sheet of paper and keep this sheet handy. Whenever a craving hit you, you go through the sheet once you are motivated enough to let the craving pass away. It is always a better idea to read this sheet once a day even if the cravings hit you or not.
