Consistency is the Key to the Kingdom of No-Porn

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.   — Zig Ziglar

Recently I wrote an article about quitting porn with the two most effective and time tested methods and shared it on PornFree community on Reddit (Here).

In the article I had mentioned Fasting and Lowering the Gaze as the two most effective methods to quit porn. But someone on that subreddit could not comprehend it and commented

“I don’t really agree with this as those are two temporary fixes.

1) You can fast but only for so long. Once you eat again and your body is no longer hungry it will go back to having a normal sex drive.

2) Also looking at the floor isn’t really practical either. We can’t walk around afraid that a female might cross our path. We are supposed to be becoming strong confident men. Not men that can’t even look someone in the eyes.”

So, this article is about shedding some light on that comment and to see if there are any Permanent fixes out there to quit porn.

I believe (and the experiences of 76K members on Pornfree and 390K members on NoFap subreddits believe toothat there is no permanent fix to quitting porn.

All the tips, techniques and methods on the internet, in the books, in lectures are just temporary fixes. But ask anyone on the above mentioned subreddits, who has crossed that 30 days or 90 days mark and he will tell you that “I did not do different things, I just did things differently and my secret ingredient was CONSISTENCY, I was consistent with whatever I did“.

Successful people don’t do different things they do things differently.

The millions of addicts are a proof of “The Power of Consistency”, they are very consistent about their behaviour, they get horny when alone, they watch porn after school, they jack off when depressed etc. And the billions of non-addicts or thousands of recovered addicts are a proof of “The Power of consistency” too, they don’t watch porn, that’s what they are consistent with.

As for the second part of the comment, read my article All About Triggers for the Novice NoFappers – The Secret to Avoid Relapses. People don’t understand that Relapsing is like a domino effect. The first piece is the Trigger and the last piece is the Relapse. If you can either manage to avoid the first piece from falling or if you can stop the falling pieces somewhere in the middle or at least save the piece just before the last piece from falling, you can save yourself from another guilt filled cycle of Porn addiction.

If you are not looking at something sexual, you are not feeding your brain sexual images to create sexual fantasies and wet dreams and cravings. You will not think about something sexual, if you avoid looking at something sexual. If you are not thinking about something sexual, you are not going to relapse and put another relapse post on noFap – cribbing how difficult quitting porn is.

If you don’t wanna lower your gaze, don’t do it. You wanna be a strong confident man?

Sure, you can be, go to a party or go to a beach, watch girls in bikinis, talk to them, come back with your head full of sexual images and jack off. That’s the easiest thing to do. And you can definitely maintain that hollow image of strong confident man and still be struggling with porn.  And good luck with struggling to quit porn till eternity.

If you really want to quit porn, you need to find a method and stick to it. Because consistency is the magic ingredient in all successful endeavours.
